Time is indeed running out to tackle an impending "explosive" HIV/AIDS epidemic and population explosion in the Asia Pacific region. Inequality, poverty, unequal status of women, stigma against people living with HIV, and cultural myths about sex contribute to an explosive epidemic. Strong national leadership and commitment to fighting the disease are among the most important factors required to slow down the spread of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The best way to tackle this modus operandi would be to create awareness, and this can be planned by holding more and more scientific seminars to educate the physicians and the masses at large.

Over half of the world's population is Asia 's, many still in the brink of illiteracy and ignorance. With this predicament, the Asian federation is determined in fighting myths and misconceptions and imparting advances in sexual health concerns. The main aim of AOFS is to promote healthy sexual awareness campaign against the growing impediment of HIV/AIDS and also educate the medical and para-medical fraternity members on various other related topics on sexual health. Infact, the most recent conference held in India in November 2004 was attended by over 425 delegates from 25 countries. The scientific sessions, the concurrent workshops and the plenary sessions not only updated the delegates on the latest current issues in sexual health, but also gave an insight to various solutions related to the growing problems in the field of sexology. Scientist from all over the world participated in this event creating a more rich and knowledgeable database.

Keeping up with the trend of giving good scientific sessions to the masses, the First Asia Oceanic Conference of Sexology (9 th Asian Conference of Sexology) under the Theme: "Sexuality - No East No West" will be held in Thailand from November 1 st to 4 th , 2006 .
