    ABOUT THE WAS

WAS Changes its name to World Association for Sexual Health

In an historic decision the WAS changed its name to the World Association for Sexual Health. The change reflects the mission of WAS adopted two years ago in La Havana, Cuba.

WAS has worked in promoting sexual health for all. Sexual health is not a goal for clinicians only. Sexual health is the crystallization of our common goal. Sexuality Education has the objective to facilitate sexually healthy lives of those who are being educated. Interventions in Clinical Sexology have the goal of restoring sexual health. Sex Research, although objectively driven, has as its justification the creation of knowledge that supports others to attain and maintain sexual health.

Sharing Scientific Information
Beginning in Rome in 1978 through Montreal 2005, the WAS has
successfully sponsored 18 international congresses attracting thousands of
participants from around the world.  The 19th World Congress of Sexual Health will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden, from June 21 to June 25 2009
.
