World Sexual Health Day celebrated for the first time on September 4th, 2010
The World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) celebrated World Sexual Health Day for the first time on September 4th, 2010Thirty countries scheduled activities and 20 reported activities: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Ecuador, Iceland, Iran, Italy, Macedonia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Paraguay, Portugal , Spain, Uruguay, Venezuela. Seven more participated although they have not sent detailed reports yet. Three more countries also disseminated information in a limited way. WSHD helped to build awareness all over the world of the importance of sexual health for all age groups and all kinds of people. It is evident that the results merit a recommendation that WSHD day should be instituted every year as a it provides strong arguments to the benefits of sexual health.
It has also increased WAS visibility, especially among young people and will be an invaluable component in the drive to include younger people and professionals through its Youth initiative
